All Change

In February I started a new job as Room Leader for a preschool room at the nursery which my youngest attends.

A few weeks before I started here I started here however I was diagnosed with PND, which the doctor estimated at having gone on for over 4 years.
The doctor and I both agreed to give the job a go as it may just be what I needed to focus on, something positive to help mould these childrens lives.

It was a great challenge as a lot of work was needed to turn the room around and begin to educate these children again.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and even though sometimes I feel like pulling my hair out its still a great job and the children are fantastic. My staff and I have really come a long long way and we work so well together that the children are thriving.

However a few months in and I was finding it too much, I asked to step down from being Room Leader and very fortunately I also got to change to a term time only contract.
It was all proving too much with having two young children also at home, I realized I just wanted a job I could switch off from when I came home, rather than preparing things for the week ahead.

So far our holidays have been lovely, and I am really appreciating the extra time at home with my children. The sunny days in the garden and the leaps and bounds they have come on in just these first 2 weeks have made me certain I have done the right thing for my family.

My children and I have really enjoyed the no rush pace of life, if something doesn't get done it can be done tomorrow, something which I really need to push into my work life too. I am enjoying not being busy and just spending the morning in our PJs without a care in the world.

Children are not little for long, soon they will be teenagers and wont want to spend the day with their Mum and Dad so I am really cherishing these precious days.

As I type I am watching the girls play with Daddy in the garden, pushing their prams round the garden, jumping on the trampoline and my toddlers favorite going down the slide. They are free and learning in their own way without formal education or being stuck in a nursery all day.

I love it!

What are your summer plans?
